Thank you to the Colorado Watercolor Society!
WFWS41 was hosted by the Colorado Watercolor Society in June of 2016. Project Manager Gene Youngmann led a dedicated team of volunteers to do an outstanding job of welcoming WFWS to Colorado. Delegates, Alternates and guests enjoyed a welcome dinner at the home of CWS member Beatrice Trautman. It was a treat to see her art collection and the beautiful views from her home, and the weather cooperated perfectly.
The Annual meeting was led by Watercolor Society of Oregon’s Project Manager Ruth Armitage, and minutes recorded by Margaret Godfrey.
Artists enjoyed one of the largest receptions and banquets CWS has sponsored at the Arvada Center for the Arts. CWS displayed their state show there, juried by Gale Webb, AWS, NWS. Sterling Edwards juried the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies’ 41st Exhibition. Both jurors were on hand to comment on the shows.
Many new signature members were honored, due to the recent change in requirements. Artists must now be accepted in 3 WFWS exhibitions to earn signature status, rather than the earlier requirement of 4 acceptances.
The farewell dinner took place at the Clive Cussler Museum, where artists mingled while admiring the vintage and rare automobile collection.
